Non-nuclear Splicing Factors Shape Axons during Motor Development Non-nuclear Splicing Factors Shape Axons during Motor Development. The splicing factor SFPQ, known for its nuclear functions, is shown here to also act outside of the nucleus in developing motor axons when it regulates RNAs and is required for normal axon growth and morphology. The findings also uncover human mutations affecting axonal localization of the protein and motor axon shape.
