Evolving Roles for Inhibitory Interneurons in Seizures. Using a combination of optogenetics and calcium imaging, Khoshkhoo et al. show how various classes of interneurons play distinct and evolving roles during seizures. They identify vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)-expressing interneurons as potential targets for seizure control.
