Pericyte Control of Neurovascular Function - Pericytes are known to play a key role in the development of cerebral microcirculation but their function in the adult brain and during aging is not clear. Here, Berislav Zlokovic and colleagues review their findings that pericytes control key neurovascular functions necessary for neuronal structure and function and that their loss results in a progressive age-dependent vascular-mediated neurodegeneration.
