Sonic Hedgehog Directs Cortical Circuit Formation

Sonic Hedgehog Directs Cortical Circuit Formation - Sonic Hedgehog is one of the most widely studied molecules in developmental biology, with critical functions in tissue patterning, and proliferation and specification of adult neural stem and cancer cells. Arnold Kriegstein and colleagues now identify a novel function for Sonic Hedgehog in directing synapse formation in a specific cortical circuit, which is dependent on the Sonic Hedgehog receptor Boc.
