Unexpected sexual activity in mice

Atypical female courtship, including enhanced genital biting, characterizes a novel stock of laboratory mice. This heritable anomaly appeared together with ectopic Hoxd gene expression in the adult brain, due to a microdeletion in the HoxD gene cluster. Arguably, some related phenomena may pertain to clinical genetics.
