Neuronal activity during perception In this study, Muto et al. visualized brain activity of a zebrafish larva while it visually perceived a swimming paramecium. This study demonstrates that the visual world is indeed mapped onto a part of the brain in the visual system. This visuotopic mapping (also called retinotopic mapping) is a common feature of animal brains, including humans.
