Cross-Species Imaging of Schizophrenia In this video abstract, Schobel et al. describe progressive functional and structural abnormalities of the hippocampus observed in MRI studies of patients who progress to psychosis and mice exposed to repeated ketamine. Schobel et al. explain how hippocampal hypermetabolism leads to hippocampal atrophy across the transition to psychosis and the critical role of extracellular glutamate in driving the progressive abnormalities. For more information, see Schobel et al. Neuron 78(1).
