Nanoscale-Targeted Presynaptic Ion Channel Patch-Clamp Recordings

Presynaptic ion channels are difficult to study because most of brain synapses are very small (~ 1 micron). In this video abstract, Kirill Volynski, Yuri Korchev, and Pavel Novak describe how to record ion channel activity in small presynaptic boutons using a semiautomated approach based on superresolution Hopping Probe Ion Conductance Microscopy.
