KSR2 Mutations Are Associated with Obesity, Insulin Resistance, and Impaired Cellular Fuel Oxidation

Sadaf Farooqi and colleagues reveal how they sequenced more than 2,000 individuals with severe early onset obesity to identify mutations in the gene KSR2. They find that these mutations lead to impaired metabolic signaling as well as reduced basal metabolic rate and propose that modulating KSR2 may be a possible therapeutic strategy in the treatment of obesity.
