Dancing Bees Cast Their Votes on Best Land Types and Areas

Foraging honeybees perform waggle dances for profitable food locations. Couvillon et al. decoded and analyzed these dances to determine honeybee foraging preferences across an urban-rural landscape. The honeybees communicated a foraging preference for a National Nature Reserve with many wildflowers specifically and rural lands under Higher Level Stewardship generally. Overall, the honeybee dance data may be used as an effective bioindicator of landscape quality and health.
