Multiple-Choice Tests -- Doomed or Redeemed? Are multiple-choice tests inferior to other forms of testing, such as cued-recall tests or short-answer tests? Contrary to commonly held beliefs, a study published at Psychological Science journal shows that they are not. When constructed properly, multiple choice tests can effectively engage both the recognition processes and productive retrieval process enhancing later recall.
