2013, A Guide to Assessing Needs
(available for free through the World Bank) was the most
popular of all their books which are available free online
viewing as part of their global open knowledge mandate. The
book had more than 56,000 online reads/downloads (19,000
more viewers than the next book on the list). The
authors, Maurya West Meiers and Ryan Watkins, will be
offering a needs assessment workshop in July 2014 as part of
Jim Altschuld recently released "Bridging the Gap between Asset/Capacity Building and Needs Assessment: Concepts and Practical Applications", published by Sage.

It is with a very heavy heart that I must put here that John Wedman, a colleague and friend, has passed away. John is well known for his work on the Performance Pyramid, a valuable tool used in many needs assessments.
